Dance Competition
Auditions are held every June and September; they are designed
like a class in which the
students are put through a variety of steps and combinations
relevant to their age and ability.
The atmosphere is fun and the experience is positive.
Once accepted into the company a student is required to
take ballet a minimum of twice per/week,
as well as a technique class. Attendance is mandatory and
if there are more than 3 absences,
this will result in dismissal from competition.
On average JCB competes in 4-5 competitions per season,
three local and one out of town. Competitions are chosen
with a wide range of criteria.
The main goal of JCB in competition is to provide a fun
and challenging experience while
maintaining proper technique. The competitions provide a
venue by which to learn to improve
in a positive setting.
It is important that both the student and parent understand
it is a commitment to a team.
Individuals must be willing to work hard and push for their
personal best.
For a wide range of reasons, the head teachers decide
the composition of each group.
Students are put into routines that best suit their abilities.
Age averaging is how routines will
be divided at the competition, ( all ages added and then
divided by the number in the group).
